Nice site. Couldn't help me though...I'm beginning to think my Ferrells evaded the census takers. Roots are in NC and Mass. NC is Ferrell & Medlin. Medlin goes back to when Nicholas Medlin married Ann Susannah Owen. Owen goes back to Daniel in the 13-1500's to Danyers in the 1200's. Mass. is Collins & Griffin who came over during the famine.

I stumbled upon your data on Benjamin Vaiden Wright, Sr. I am interested in him with regard to a book I am writing on the sawmill industry in Mississippi. He was woods supt. for the Gilchrist-Fordney Company, in Laurel, MS in the early 1920s, and left MS sometime in the mid 1920s for Oregon. He shows up in the 1930 census in Portland working as a timberman. Can you tell me when and where he died plus other dates marked "private" in your web material. Your help will certainly be appreciated.

Comments:
The Schauss family settled in Rowan county N.C.
Names underwent a metamorphis for unknown reasons.
Schauss,Shouse,Shows, and then Shoultz.
The Schauss name as well as the Shoultz name appears at the
same time in Indiana early 1800's.
Obviously the two surnames are inexplicably linked.

One of them was a James Madison - at least that is what I thought. Thank you so much

Who is your oldest documented ancestor? Thomas Millsap
Comments:
My cousin sent my dad Artemas Millsap a copy of the family geneology that she had gotten from the LDS archives. Her lineage consisted of mostly her direct line which left mine as only a mention. The Thomas Millsap lineage from 1740 is the shared one. Diana Treff and I are probably 3rd or fourth cousins, but our grandmothers were sisters, so I don't know what that does to our relationship. I think that O.R. Millsap (her grandfather) and Scott Perry Millsap (my grandfather) were either brothers or cousins. Anyhow, I am very interested in finding out infor.

Who is your oldest documented ancestor? Samuel Marshall
Comments:
What a wonderful idea! Perhaps you can help me in my search for Samuel's parentage.
Samuel was born about 1793 in Chester Co., PA, and married Caroline Mendenhall, daughter of Adam and Eliza Allen Mendenhall. He would be my gr-gr-gr-grandfather. Samuel and Caroline's son, Adam, (my gr-gr-grandfather) was murdered in Enoch Twsp, Monroe Co., OH, while coming to the aid of a wife who was being assaulted by her husband. Adam left a wife, Rebecca Hall, and six children, one of whom was my gr-grandfather, Stephen Marshall.
I understand you probably concentrate more on the Mendenhall line, but wonder if you have anything, anything at all, that could help me locate Samuel's parents/brothers/sisters.
Thank you and keep up the good work.
Joann

I have a picture of Jesse (Jessie?) Melton and a picture of his headstone. He is buried in Union Hill Cemetery, in Yalobusha County, Ms. Also in this cemetery is a headstone of Jesse's wife, Margaret and Lizzie, their daughter, is also listed on the SAME headstone as her mother. Who is your oldest documented ancestor? Bosworth
Comments:
My husband is Charles Edward Winslow. His father was Charles Bosworth Winslow. His grandfather was Fay Bosworth. Charles O. Winslow married Lizzie Vanpelt in Iowa. They had 1 child, Lida Winslow. Lida married Fay Bosworth. They had Charles Bosworth who was adopted by Charles O Winslow and his wife Lizzie. I know this is rather strange, but Lida must not have been able to care for her son, so Charles and Lizzie took him and raised him as their own. Hence, the name of Winslow instead of Bosworth The Winslow name stops with my son's son, Bryan Lee Winslow. born Aug 1,1987 in Portland,Oregon It is possible that their were more Winslow 's from Charles O. Winslow's brothers. If you have more info about the Winslow side of the family I would really like to know what you have. Truly, Annette Wislow

I am researching the same lines--Massey and Chambers. I noticed you had my grandmother's name as Chamblin and it was actually Chambers. Joab J. Massey married Cora Mabel Chambers. The children are also different than on the web site. They had eleven children--nine boys and two girls. My mother was one of the girls. I am in Oklahoma now and do not have access to the exact dates etc. I will be glad to mail them to you sometime during August as I would like to see the line updated. I go back to Thomas Massey (documented) and back to Viking heritage. I also noted that you have lines on Thorngurgh and others. Thanks so much for your work. The Chambers go back to David who was our immigrant ancestor. His son David was in the Revolutionary War and probably was at Valley Forge. He was a direct ancestor of mine also. Sounds like we have many ancestors in common.

Richard Columbus "Lum" Melton was my great grandfather, Rose A. Powers was my great grandmother; Thomas George "Tom" Melton was my grandfather, Amanda Lenvena Billman was my grandmother; Harold Thomas Melton was my father. I am listed as "Living Melton" under my father on Ancestry.com

On my great grandmothers side the line goes back to Tabitha Tinsley in 1793.

It is wonderful the work that has gone into these records. I thank you and all for your tireless efforts. It seems I have learned more about my family on-line than was ever discussed growing up. Again, thank you so much.

What a site! Ken and I are thirlled with the photo's. Ken had never seen the ones of his father (William Lee Chambers) as a child. They are a treasure. YOU ARE A TREASURE!! I'm still on my quest to extend Celesta Thomas Ferrell's line. I'm going to the Family History Library in Salt Lake city in July and maybe I'll find something. I'll work on other of our lines also and will send you anything I can find. Is there any thing I can check out for you? Just e-mail me with the info. and I'll be happy to see what I can find.
We won't be able to attend the family reunion again this year, please give our love to any of the Chambers that may remember Ken and his folks. Talk to you soon. Julie

Hi, I just want to make a correction concerning Joel Mason. He was married to Lavinia Hilton, not Melton. They were married in Warren County, IN 5 Aug 1841. Lavinia died in 1884 in Cowley County, Kansas. They had no children. Joel remarried to Martha Crawford. In 1900 Joel was 81 years old living in Harper County, Kansas with his two daughters, Jessie (14 yrs) and Hattie (11 yrs). Lavinia was my great-grandaunt. I just thought I'd let you know.

My wife descends from James Wilson, Will-1, Sumner Co.,TN
thru his daugter Mary.
I am compiling much data from the Internet for the Wilson
Family...still have not been able to prove James Wilson's
parentage...however, he is definitely descended from the
Wilsons who came to Sumner/Wilson counties of Tennessee in
mid 1790's. I would like to include your excellent and very
comprehensive "Descendants of Robert Wilson" data in my wife
data/collection. Will be glad to exchange or correspond.
Question: Was Robert Wilson/Eleanor (Carothers) Wilson
a son of Robert and Rachel (Pritlowe) Wilson or was he a
son of Zaccheus and Frances ( ) Wilson?????
Thanks for your interest, in advance.
