Uncle Cleve lived most of his life in or near Florala, Alabama. In his early years he was in the lumber business as a hired hand. While working in a sawmill operation near Galliver in about 1915, he lost his right eye when a belt broke and one of the metal laces pierced his eye. He was fitted with a glass eye which would become his particular trademark for the rest of his life. by: Ron Shows |
